The Dept. of Precision Machinery & Instrumentation was established in 1978 based on the Basic Courses Teaching Section of Dept. of Modern Mechanics. The predecessor of this teaching section was the Machine Teaching Group of the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Teaching Section, which was teaching the engineering basic courses for whole university. This teaching group merged into Dept. of Modern Mechanics in 1963. The current department chair is XIANG Libin, and the current executive chair is ZhENG Jinjin.
